Hello,
My name is Katyana (Kat), and I recently graduated with a Master of Professional Architecture from Unitec Institute of Technology in June 2024. Prior to that, I completed my Bachelor's in Interior Architecture at Victoria University of Wellington in 2021. Throughout my master's studies, I worked part-time and then transitioned into a full-time role at Studio Billy in Ponsonby, Auckland.
At Studio Billy, I specialised in high-end, bespoke residential architecture, tackling a variety of briefs ranging from new builds to villa restorations. This has allowed me to be involved in projects at every stage, from concept design to resource and building consent documentation, providing me with invaluable experience and satisfaction. I have a particular passion for reconfiguring floor plans, exploring how spaces can be transformed, and taking clients' specifications to present them with a fresh perspective on design that enhances both function and atmosphere.
After working for a year and a half at Studio Billy, I relocated to Sydney, Australia, where I secured my first role as a Graduate Architect.
At MHNDU, I contributed across a broad range of projects, from thirty-storey multi-residential developments through to high-end residential architecture within the housing team, working on one- to four-storey homes. This experience allowed me to develop a strong understanding of Australian design codes, practices, and guidelines, while also recognising areas of overlap with New Zealand standards.
During my time at MHNDU, I also completed my PALS course, with the intention of continuing to build my knowledge of architectural practice and working towards registration as an architect.
Thank you for taking the time to explore my work. If you’d like to learn more or get in touch, please feel free to reach out through any of the platforms linked below.
